Lawrence Tynes, May 10, 2008

It was the second coldest game in NFL history. And there was Lawrence Tynes -- in overtime -- waiting to kick a field goal to send the New York Giants to Super Bowl XLII. Tynes had already missed two potential game winning field goals in regulation. In fact, Coach Tom Coughlin wasn't even sure he wanted his kicker to try a 47-yard field goal. But as 4th down arrived, Tynes ran onto the field without an order to do so from the coach. Tynes then proceeded to hit the longest field goal in Lambeau Field post-season history. Two weeks later, in the big game, Tynes scored the first and last points for the Giants. He later agreed to a 5 year contract. Tynes was born in Scotland and played for the Claymores in NFL Europe before a stint in the CFL. Ironically, he scored the first points in the Giants game against the Dolphins in London.

He was traded from the Kansas City Chiefs to the Giants prior to the 2007 season. He played college ball at Troy State.
